The opportunity to join our HI-Jasper & Jasper Wilderness Properties team as Assistant Manager is a permanent full-time position.
As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Manager in all aspects of hostel management in accordance with Hostelling International policies, procedures and mission statement. You will provide hostel staff with day-to-day “hands-on” leadership that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the Association and sets the example for staff to follow.  You will directly supervise and train the Front Desk staff, as well as be responsible for chairing monthly Joint Health and Safety meetings and other tasks as assigned.  You will also provide additional support to the Jasper Wilderness Properties, as requested by the Manager.
The successful candidate will have organizational skills, and an understanding of all aspects of customer service. He/she will also possess the ability to remain composed during high-pressure situations, be comfortable working alone and have previous hostelling experience and/or experience in the tourism, service, or hospitality industry.  Previous experience working in a remote location is an asset.  You will have experience with property management software (asset if it’s Room Master!) and a strong knowledge of Jasper and the surrounding area.
This position is available November 19, 2012. The starting salary range s $30,000 per year commensurate upon skills and experience, and includes a 6% vacation entitlement and comprehensive benefits package.  On-site free acdcomodation in a private one bedroom apartment.
