Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training


Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years


Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English


Work Setting: Newspaper/magazine shop, Convenience store, Greeting card shop, Gift shop, Jewellery store, Leather goods store, Men's clothing store, Women's clothing store, Children's clothing store


Business Equipment and Computer Applications: Point of sale system, Electronic mail, Spreadsheet software, Inventory control software, Basic computer skills (will train), Internet competency


Staff Responsibility: 1 - 20


Specific Skills: Plan, direct and evaluate daily operations, Manage staff and assign duties, Perform cash deposits, Balance daily transactions, Develop and implement marketing strategies, Plan budgets and monitor revenues and expenses, Determine staffing requirements, Recruit and train staff, Prepare reports regarding sales volumes, merchandising and personnel matters, Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages, Customer service oriented


Security and Safety: Bondable, Criminal record check, Credit check


Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Work under pressure, Handling heavy loads, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods


Transportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is not available


Work Location Information: Rural community, Remote location
