Position Overview

Grade 2 Grooming Operators work as part of the Mountain Operations team. They have at least one full winter season of ski area snowcat operating experience and are responsible for safe and efficient operation of a Prinoth snowcat to help maintain the slopes under the direction of the Grooming & Snowmaking Supervisor.

Grooming Operator – Grade 2 candidates will have demonstrated the ability to groom most runs at Marmot Basin, are familiar with Marmot Basin’s regular grooming circuits, can lead/oversee Grade 1 Operators and work on special projects. Grade 2 Grooming Operators will demonstrate the ability/aptitude to operate a tower-winch snowcat and will be provided training/mentorship on winch operations.

The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions and must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
This is a full-time seasonal role, 4 afternoons/evenings out of 7 per week. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.


Qualifications
Minimum one full winter season operating snowcats in the ski industry
Experience operating Prinoth snowcats
Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level or better
Mechanical aptitude (a background in mechanical experience preferred)
Ski industry risk management experience
Excellent physical & mental health
Strong interpersonal skills
Valid class 5 driver’s license (or better)

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Help manage the quality of our groomed runs by operating Prinoth snowcats.
Attend and complete all training in a timely manner.
Report for scheduled shifts.
Lead/oversee Grade 1 operators on regular circuits
Work in a safe efficient manner; point out any safety concerns that would put any employee or guest in an unsafe situation
Supplementary
Respect and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the “Corporate Policies”, “Employee Handbook” and “Grooming Training Manual”
Understand and adhere to Ski Marmot Basin’s “Harassment Policy” and the company’s “Privacy Policy”.
