The Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre (Jasper) is currently accepting applications for the role of Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. This position will understand the true meaning of customer service excellence and possess a superior work ethic enabling him/her to be a positive and effective team leader.  The successful candidate will possess some or all of the following characteristics, skills and experience.
The position:
Run the day to day service  operations of Walter`s Dining Room, The Hearthstone,Room Service, Champs Lounge  and  some Banqueting
Ensuring excellent customer service
Ensuring effective staff training and scheduling
Demonstrate leadership by example and foster a healthy and safe work environment
Responsible for efficient and effective opening and closing procedures
Responsible for cash management & reconciliation
Must be flexible with working hours (weekend & evening included)
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Supervision of food and beverage service in all restaurants, lounges, room service and some  banquets during peak business hours
Ensuring mise-en-place is complete and that equipment is clean prior to service
Assist and offer support in the creation and implementation  of food menus
Beverage and wine listing development  costing and implementation
Supervising and training of subordinates to ensure the customer receives the highest standard of service as well as identifying and effectively dealing with any customer complaints
Liaising with the Chef on a daily basis
Be accountable for ensuring the correct banking procedures are followed as well as identifying & resolving any financial matters
Providing and taking dining times for all tour and group bookings
Liaising with tour leaders to ensure quality of service
Developing unique marketing and sales techniques to drive sales
Effectively manage by ensuring the following: 
Oversee the implementation of standards as detailed in the departmental       standards and procedures manual
Adhere to opening and closing procedures
Adhere to bill paying procedures
Conduct effective shift briefings ensuring all staff are aware of VIPs, special occasions, daily specials; emphasis on up-selling certain products; etc.
Encourage and motivate staff to provide optimum service during all shifts
Share recommendations and guest comments to Chef to reflect current customer profile
Manage special event concepts
Anticipate market changes and review operations when necessary
Conduct competitor analysis
Create positive publicity opportunities
Manage customer database and utilize effectively
Up-sell property facilities
Actively pursue cost saving measures
Recycle wherever possible
Liaise with Sales Manager during tender process to obtain new accounts
Manage wage and beverage cost
Forecasting and departmental budgeting
Stock control
Inventories with accounting
Analyze food and beverage statistics through point of sale system
Assist in Hotel promotions and special events
Health and Safety committee member
 
Position Requirements 
The person:

Strong background in Food & Beverage with proven leadership skills
