Job Description

As the Assistant Recreation Manager at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, you will be responsible for our Pool, Fitness Area, Boathouse, Kids Camp, Resort’s activities and recreation group’s activities. You will be an ambassador for the exceptional service and recreation activities that are hallmarks of the Jasper Park Lodge. You and your team will be responsible for promoting and facilitating the various activities that will enhance our guest's overall experience at our resort.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director, Wellbeing. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Direct and lead the day-to-day Recreation operation ensuring all standards are followed
Ensure Health & Safety regulations are adhered to in all Recreation areas
Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the Pool, Boathouse, and Health club thermal area, by completing daily inspections of the facilities.
Develop and implement programs to enhance departmental revenue
Design entertainment programs and activities for children and adults during all official holidays.
Ensure a high level of guest service is maintained, through follow up on guests’ issues, comments, and platform.
Monitor and effectively control departmental payroll and expenses
Effectively schedule all Recreation colleagues
Administer and implement of staff training in all aspects of the operation
Responsible for all spa purchasing, inventories, keeping track of product shelf life and monitoring products consumptions,
Ensure Recreation equipment inventory is well maintained
Manage cash float and point of sales system
Ensure correct chemical balance of pool and accurate water test readings are maintained as per Provincial regulations
Attend all scheduled hotel meetings
Develop and implement children programming
Effectively recruit for department and complete performance management
Design and implement all controls for rentals, classes, programs, etc.
Create and initiate yearly marketing plan
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Previous experience working with children
First Aid and CPR certification is required
Proven record in program design and /or program facilitation
Computer literacy with strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel
Degree in recreation or related degree preferred
Knowledge of Chemicals/pool operations is an asset
Previous experience with a point of sales system preferred but not mandatory
Must have a strong interest in health, well-being and physical activity
Committed to ongoing development and training of all colleagues
Must be a proven motivator and able to build and support strong work teams

Additional Information

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
