Overview:
High Tide Inc. is looking for a Controller, Financial Reporting in our Calgary, AB corporate offce. This role is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing High Tide Inc.’s financial operations and reporting. This includes managing accounting records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Controller plays a key role in supporting Directors with hands-on financial management and operational insight. This role reports to the Director, Accounting and Reporting.
Responsibilities:
Review and/or prepare (as needed) the monthly business unit P&L reporting.
Review and/or prepare (as needed) monthly/quarterly/annual reporting for the partnership business
Review the accounting of items included under shareholder's equity, debt, ROU, debentures, and PPA-related accounting prepared by the Financial Analyst
Lead the treatment of complex accounting matters prepared by Senior Financial Analyst
Support balance sheet items and income statement variance including researching and explaining significant variances by working closely with various departments and Controller, operational accounting, to support monthly reporting and quarterly notes to FS & MD&A
Review the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements prepared by financial reporting lead.
Review the financial notes to accounts and MD&A, quarterly and yearly, prepared by financial reporting lead.
Support the team for quarterly free cash flow forecast.
Coordinate the press release & MD&A with the investor relations team.
Develop and maintain daily/monthly/annual key performance indicators (KPIs) for financial reporting team.
Manage the flow of information to auditors for quarterly review and annual audit.
Support FP&A team to develop stronger reporting for Area Managers/managing directors/operations.
Being an extremely hands-on user of the ERP system and drive data, reporting and efficiencies using this system
Direct reporting of the treasury analyst to support treasury work, including cash flow planning and GIC investment strategies.
Challenging the status quo in a professional manner and communicating the need for change to managers/leads using tact and diplomacy
Be a key support person to the Director in the development of efficient processes for financial reporting, including related ERP Automation
Manage task distribution and team workload to achieve optimal performance.
Qualifications:
CPA designation and a degree in accounting.
10 to 12 years of experience in operational accounting, management reporting, and KPI development in a publicly traded company of comparable size, preferably listed on NASDAQ.
Experience working in Canada, the USA and Europe.
Strong experience in procure-to-pay processes and inventory management.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing accounting teams.
Proficiency in ERP systems with a hands-on approach to data and reporting.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience working in Big 4.
Experience working in SOX compliant environment.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with flexibility for some remote work.
Occasional travel may be required for audits or meetings.
