General Description:

Metal Building Systems Erectors will assemble and install pre-engineered metal buildings and steel components including overhead cranes, mezzanines, stairs, handrails, etc. They work on a variety of jobs, large and small, including but not limited to building expansions, office/multi use developments, factory/industrial centers, and sports/recreational multi use arenas, and heavy industrial projects across Canada.

As a Metal Building Erector you will be reporting directly to the Site Foreman.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning which order to fit the steelwork together following plans drawn up by engineers
Lifting and guiding components into position with tower, hydraulic cranes, or telehandlers
Follow all safety requirements of both the company and the project site
Report any unsafe working conditions to the supervisor immediately
Lining up and leveling steelwork before securing it in place by bolting or welding methods
Working from mobile elevated work platforms (AWP's) to the structure
Working on the structure itself at heights beyond the reach of AWP's
Install fiberglass insulation and metal cladding on walls and roof of structures
Hoisting steel, attach cables and/or slings to each piece using levels, transits, laser equipment
Erect hoisting equipment
Install rigging
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
Specific Skills:

Awareness of health and safety practices
Qualifications:

-Minimum of 3 years of experience in erection pre-engineered building systems.

- Ability to follow engineering instructions and plans accurately; good head for heights and sense of balance; good team working skills, good fitness level; high level of practical skills; good hand-eye coordination; high awareness of health and safety practices.

- Must have Fall protection, Aerial work platform and CSTS.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Computer proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook at minimum.

- Must have a valid drivers’ license and be able to submit a clean driver’s abstract. Minimum requirement Class 5 Driver license.

- Must have reliable transportation

- Must be able to travel.

- Strong leadership, analytical and decision making skills.

- Willing to work in a smoke free environment, drug free, alcohol free environment.

- Pre-access and post testing is mandatory for all roles.
