ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Recovery, the Social and Economic Recovery Manager occupies a key position in the organizational structure of the Municipality of Jasper’s wildfire recovery operation. The Social and Economic Recovery Manager will work across multiple priority areas in recovery, collaborating with a diversity of partners to ensure progress against identified recovery objectives. The position will be directly responsible for continuing work in the areas of economic recovery, social recovery, and liaising with recovery parters both internal and external to the community. The Social and Economic Recovery Manager will also oversee a small team with specific responsibilities within those scopes of work and will provide support to the Director of Recovery in the areas of planning, communications, and reporting. This position will demand a wholistic understanding of Jasper’s Recovery Framework and the ability to adapt to emergent priorities in a dynamic working environment.

This position will begin immediately with an expected end date of September 30, 2027.

WORK PERFORMED

Lead multi-sector working groups: Set agendas, chair meetings, track progress, and engage partners to advance recovery priorities.
Manage grant-funded initiatives: Deliver projects on time, oversee budgets and reporting, and secure funding through applications.
Build and sustain partnerships: Collaborate with government, NGO, and community partners; align services, reduce duplication, and address gaps.
Support recovery planning and reporting: Contribute to planning processes, prepare reports, and provide briefings and recommendations to leadership and Council.
Lead demobilization and transition efforts: Support transition to permanent housing and operationalize recovery transition frameworks.
Manage staff and operations: Supervise a small team, oversee contracts and recruitment, and ensure compliance with municipal policies and health and safety requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required

Bachelor’s degree or higher in social science, community development, or a related field.
At least 3 years’ experience in municipal administration.
Preferred

Managerial experience in municipal administration
Experience in emergency management or disaster recovery
Equivalencies may be considered on the basis of one year experience for one year of education.

Candidates with lower qualifications are encouraged to apply and may be considered at a lower classification and pay.
