Position Overview

A Retail Sales Associate is a part of the Marmot Basin Retail team. We are a small team, and everyone gets quite close with each other. They are responsible for making sure they are doing the best they can to keep our guests happy. This includes providing information on products that are sold in the store. Our retail store is not just a gift shop, we sell gear for the winter season as well, such as snow pants, goggles, helmets, etcetera. It is important for guests to leave happy so they can have an enjoyable time on the mountain. Associates are also responsible for the cleanliness of the store, as well as restocking the shelves daily.

Working this full-time seasonal job requires you to be on site 5 day out of 7 per week starting October and running through to May. Please understand that the beginning of the season has slow periods but picks up quite fast during December.

Alberta Employment Standards regarding a ninety-day probationary period applies.

A Day in the life of a Retail Sales Associate

Getting up in the small town of Jasper with a beautiful sunrise above the mountains while waiting for the staff bus at 7:45 to take you to Marmot Basin. When Associates arrive, they will enter the retail store Outer Limits. The supervisors give a morning speech to get you pumped up for the day. Associates settle in and boot up the point of sales system getting ready to open the doors at 8:00am. Once guests arrive, we greet them with great energy and happy smiles. Associates will provide information on products to help guests find the right gear for success. Monday to Thursdays are our slower days, but the weekends are usually the busiest. Our shifts run from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Once 11:30AM rolls around we start lunch breaks. Breaks are an hour long, you can use this to eat, ride the slopes, or chill out in the staff lunch room. On slower days we can usually accommodate longer breaks for those who want a longer ride break. We love when our staff use the free pass not only for the mental health benefit but to get familiar with the hill and the runs it includes. Our busiest time of the day is after lunch. As the day ends the associate will restock products, vacuum, mop, and reflect on the day with fellow Associates. Cash out starts once we lock our doors at 4:30pm.
