Position Overview:

The Assistant Maintenance Manager ensures high-quality maintenance work for guest satisfaction and safety. This role involves supervising, directing, and mentoring the Maintenance team to achieve optimum performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Follow and implement maintenance programs for hotel buildings, equipment, and vehicles.

· Monitor and control costs for labor, materials, and equipment.

· Assist in hiring, scheduling, training, and disciplining Maintenance staff.

· Prepare staff schedules, ensuring fair allocation and staff retention.

· Participate in staff meetings and maintain ongoing communication with the Maintenance Manager and General Manager.

· Ensure staff training in emergency procedures and power outages.

· Assign and oversee daily tasks, routine work, and repair orders.

· Assist with project completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines.

· Maintain equipment in proper working condition and comply with licensing requirements.

· Conduct regular checks of boilers, hot tubs, generators, analyzing and addressing issues.

· Perform hands-on maintenance tasks alongside the team.

· Assist with snow removal and material transport as needed.

· Oversee Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS compliance for the team.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Maintenance Building and related areas.

· Facilitate communication with all departments for cohesive teamwork.

· Cover shifts as necessary and attend Lodge meetings.

· Participate in cost-saving initiatives and complete administrative paperwork.

· Adhere to grooming and dress code.

· Assist other departments as required.

Qualifications

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Experience in hospitality, with a focus on customer service.

· Organized and detail-oriented, capable of multitasking and handling high-pressure situations.

· Relevant trade qualification (electrical/plumbing/carpentry/HVAC) or power engineering certification (4th or 5th class), or two years of maintenance experience.

· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

· Willingness to be a hands-on manager with a significant focus on operational tasks.

· Familiarity with firefighting systems, safe chemical handling, and power equipment operation.

· Proficiency in basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and Opera PMS, Microsoft Office, and Outlook is an asset.

· Physical capability for tasks involving standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and climbing ladders.
