Nursery Coordinator

Reports To: Snow School Assistant Director and Director of Skiing


Position Overview

The Nursery Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation, supervision, and overall success of the Marmot Basin Nursery Program. This role ensures a safe, caring, organized, and engaging environment for children aged 19 months to 6 years while delivering exceptional service and communication to parents and guardians.

The Nursery Coordinator oversees nursery attendants, assists with scheduling and staffing, and ensures all nursery operations comply with resort procedures and safety standards. The nursery operates every Friday, Saturday & Sunday throughout the season, and all major holidays (Christmas, Family Day, Easter/Spring break). Depending on a minimum of two bookings it may also operate mid-week. The nursery coordinator can expect to be scheduled to daily operations in the nursery through these periods. During off peak season additional shifts may be provided in the following departments:

Snow School (Instructing or Sales Desk)
Rentals/Retail
Guest Service
The ideal candidate will have a strong childcare background, excellent communication and organizational skills, snow sports experience with young children, and the ability to adapt within a dynamic resort environment.

Requirements:

Previous childcare, daycare, or nursery experience required
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to supervise and support employees in a team environment
Calm, patient, and professional
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Positive attitude and guest-focused approach
Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check required upon hire
Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid Canadian work permit
Flexibility with work schedule, including weekends, holidays, and variable shifts
Minimum 18 years of age

Qualifications:
Valid First Aid Certification (Childcare-focused certification preferred)
Ski or snowboard instructor certification
Professional education/certification in early childhood education (preferred)

Job duties/ Responsibilities:

Nursery Operations & Childcare

Oversee the daily operation of the nursery, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children.
Supervise and care for up to 24 children at a time, with support from nursery attendants.
Ensure all children’s individual needs, routines, allergies, medical concerns, and care instructions are properly documented and followed.
Maintain positive and professional communication with parents and guardians throughout the day.
Prepare children for ski lessons and outdoor activities, including dressing children appropriately for weather and snow conditions.
Ensure children’s needs are met throughout the day including meals, quiet/rest time, washroom routines, and general comfort.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the nursery facility and play areas.
Ensure all nursery procedures, policies, and safety standards are consistently followed.
Staffing & Supervision

Supervise, mentor, and support nursery attendants and support staff.
Assist the Snow School Assistant Director with scheduling and staffing coordination based on operational needs and business levels.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with child-to-attendant ratios and operational guidelines.
Assist with staff onboarding, orientation, and training.
Participate in employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and support.
Record and verify employee hours worked using Dayforce and other scheduling systems.

Guest Service & Communication

Confirm reservations and maintain accurate guest and childcare records.
Ensure parents and guardians are informed about nursery programs, procedures, and expectations.
Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when required.
Deliver a high level of guest service consistent with Marmot Basin standards.
Administrative & Operational Support

Assist with purchasing, inventory, and maintaining nursery supplies and equipment.
Ensure departmental procedures, manuals, and documentation remain current and organized.
Support Snow School and resort operations during peak periods as required.
Maintain flexibility to assist in other departments based on operational needs.
Working Conditions

Combination of indoor childcare environment and outdoor winter operations
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting children with winter clothing and equipment
Weekend and holiday work required during peak operating periods
Schedule may vary depending on business levels and operational demands
