Our Wildfire Peak-Nic Tour is a guided hiking experience exploring the regeneration of the forest after the 2024 wildfire. Guests hike through new-growth forest to a scenic summit where they learn about wildfire ecology, geology, plants, wildlife, and the history of the landscape while enjoying panoramic views and a hot lunch. We are looking for an experienced Interpretive Hiking Guide who is passionate about Jasper and enjoys sharing knowledge about the natural environment with visitors from around the world. Important Requirements Applicants must have the following certifications: 40-hour Wilderness First Aid certification Apprentice Hiking Guide certification with the Interpretive Guides Association (IGA) Applicants should also have strong knowledge of Jasper National Park ecology, wildfire recovery, geology, and local wildlife. Responsibilities Lead guided hiking tours in Jasper National Park Provide engaging interpretation about: Wildfire ecology and forest regeneration Local plants, wildflowers, and mushrooms Wildlife and natural history Geology and landscape formation Ensure the safety and well-being of guests throughout the hike Lead groups to scenic viewpoints and summit locations Facilitate the Peak-Nic lunch experience at the summit Manage group pace and trail safety Identify flora and ecological features along the trail Provide an exceptional guest experience through storytelling and interpretation Qualifications 40-hour Wilderness First Aid certification (required) IGA Apprentice Hiking Guide certification (required) Strong knowledge of Jasper National Park ecology, geology, and wildfire recovery Comfortable speaking to small groups of visitors Ability to manage groups safely in a wilderness environment Friendly, engaging personality Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence Physical Requirements Ability to hike up to 10 km per day Comfortable hiking on mountain trails with elevation gain Ability to carry small equipment or supplies Comfortable working outdoors in changing mountain weather Preferred Experience Previous interpretive guiding or outdoor guiding experience Knowledge of plants, fungi, and wildlife of the Canadian Rockies Experience leading hiking groups in mountain environments Strong storytelling and public speaking skills Why Work With Us Work outdoors in Jasper National Park Share your passion for nature and wildfire ecology with visitors Small group tours and meaningful guest interactions Competitive seasonal pay + gratuities How to Apply Please send your resume and a short introduction explaining why you would be a great guide for the Wildfire Peak-Nic Tour.
