Full job description
The primary function of this position is to create, prepare and deliver developmentally appropriate, interesting and imaginative activities for the children attending our program. The successful candidate will be able to meet the needs of each individual as well as the needs of the group in their daily practice. It is essential for the individual to have excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively within a dynamic, innovative team environment. Experience and/or training working with children with diverse needs is an asset. In addition, this individual will spend a lot of time outside and fulfill some light housekeeping duties.

▪ APPLICANT MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE AT LEAST IN ORDER TO SUPERVISE CHILDREN BY THEMSELVES AS PER PROVINICAL LICENSING RULES

▪ Ensure the safety and well-being of each child; and deliver developmentally appropriate, exciting and engaging care.

▪ Plan and implement a suitable program for imaginative activities for the children attending to ensure high-quality care and to meet the program needs. The successful candidate will be able to meet the needs of all children, utilizing clear and concise understanding of each individual as well as the needs of the routines, rules, and limits of the group in their daily practice.

▪ Engage positively and appropriately with individuals to have excellent interpersonal skills and work with children; effectively within a dynamic, innovative team.

▪ Participate in all physical activities within the environment. Experience and/or training working with children including but not limited to children with diverse needs is an asset. In addition, this is a physical job with hiking, biking, sports, and other activities; individuals will spend a lot of time outside.

▪ Perform and be responsible for housekeeping light housekeeping duties. Scheduled shifts could be in tasks and all duties outlined in the daily shift in the Early Learning or School Aged program, or requirements; or a combination of the two.

▪ Ensure the safety and maintenance of the equipment and toys at all times;

The rate of pay will be based on the successful candidates’ level of certification.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Your resume and cover letter must clearly describe how
you meet the following qualifications:

▪ Post-secondary education with a Level 1 – Early Childhood Educator certification from Alberta; ability to become certified within 6 months of beginning employment.

▪ Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification

▪ Favourable Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector

▪ Program planning and implementation

▪ Excellent oral and written skills

▪ Demonstrated leadership ability

▪ Sound knowledge of child development

▪ Ability to work in a confidential environment

▪ Excellent team player

▪ Ability to relate well to children, parents, colleagues, and community

▪ Compassion and humor

▪ Demonstrated ability to supervise children

The successful applicant will potentially work at both the Daycare and Out Of School care programs simultaneously.
