THE ROLE Our client is looking for an Accounting Manager who will become the foundational finance lead in this growing start-up. This is a high-impact role where you will establish robust, scalable accounting processes and play a critical part in shaping how the company manages financials through acquisitions and rapid growth. WHAT YOU'LL DO Core Accounting & Process Development 70% Own the full-cycle accounting, including A/R, A/P, payroll entries, and monthly close for PEQ and any related entities. Develop and document the foundational "Financial Hub Playbook" for pre & post-acquisition integration, focusing on data extraction, quality assurance, and initial dashboard setups. Establish SOPS, Train and Manage and oversee the external team of 2-3 accounting contractors/bookkeepers, ensuring timely and accurate day-to-day transaction processing and GL maintenance. Budgeting & Strategy 20% Budgeting & Strategy: Coordinate the annual budget and develop rolling forecasts that anticipate integration risks. Post-Acquisition Integration: Assist with the financial integration of all acquired entities, including the merging of accounting systems, standardization of financial reporting policies, and alignment of cost structures. Other Duties 10% Act as a Financial Thought-Partner: Working with the executive team, share your financial acumen perspective and insight when required to guide strategic decisions better. These duties may vary as they come and evolve as they often do within the start-up space. Documentation: SOPs, How Tos, and updating is key to our success. As you build out systems, we are creating the documents WHAT YOU OFFER Professional Accounting Designation is a must (CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent in the U.S. or Canada). Progressive Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years of hands-on, full cycle accounting Cost Accounting: Demonstrable experience with non-traditional Cost Accounting principles is a strong asset Technology Acumen: Knowledge & expertise of accounting software (Ex.: Quickbooks Online and XERO), Accounting Add-on Software (Liveflow, etc.) ERP systems a plus (Ex.: Netsuite, Intacct) & other Corporate software (Ex.: Microsoft Suite, Excel/Google Sheets, Slack, Notion, Linear) Language: Our subsidiary teams are dispersed across North America therefore fluency in English is a must A Sense of Grit & Entrepreneurial Spirit is a Must: This is a start-up environment, which means we will face bumps in the road. Success here means learning from mistakes, quickly implementing course corrections, and building a structure where none existed before. Industry Expertise: Direct financial or accounting experience in Insurance or Healthcare, demonstrating familiarity with industry-specific regulations and reporting standards, is a strong plus.
