As a member of the Employment and Day Services Program at FAIM, Community Support Workers provide assistance, guidance, mentoring, and modelling to adults with a range of developmental disabilities. Your goal is aiding individuals to successfully engage in employment, volunteer and recreational opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be client centered, an excellent listener, enthusiastic self-starter, team player, respectful, nonjudgmental, highly motivated, ability to “think on their feet”, flexible and be able to work independently with good self-initiative skills. They will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to adhere to agency policies and procedures.

Location - We have job positions available in High River, Okotoks, Strathmore, and Airdrie.

Job Type – Front Line Staff Position, Permanent Full Time

Hours of Work – Regular shifts are 6 hours per day (30 hours per week), generally from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the individual’s employment hours.

Salary Range - $20.00 to $23.00 per hour

Qualifications/Requirements

· Grade 12 or GED

· Some exposure to the rehabilitation field or directly related human services field preferred

· Reliable Vehicle

· Cell phone

· Access to computer and internet

· Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

In this job position, Community Support Workers work alongside the individuals in various settings, such as recycling routes, newspaper deliveries, janitorial, landscaping, mail pick/delivery, lunch programs, laundry services, and flyer deliveries just to name a few. Staff members must be fit for duty, including but not limited to, the ability to stand and walk for long periods, lifting, working in various weather conditions, navigating stairs or uneven surfaces, supporting individuals with physical activities such as swimming and exercise and assist the individuals with personal hygiene and personal care, as required.

Certifications/Licenses/Other:

· Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search less than 6 months old

· Valid Driver’s License and a 3-year Driver’s Abstract (less than 3 months old)

· Reliable Vehicle (vehicles over 10 years old will require a mechanic’s vehicle inspection)

· Minimum $2 million automobile liability insurance and permission to transport clients

· Standard First Aid/CPR Training (within 3 months of hire)
