WHO WE ARE

The Evergreens Foundation is a not-for-profit housing management body proudly supporting independent housing in Alberta. We aim to facilitate quality of life for all of our residents, through our senior and social housing facilities located in Hinton, Jasper, Edson, Grade Cache, and Evansburg.

This position will be permanently based at our beautiful Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge in Jasper, Alberta.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a General Cook who will be reporting to Chef de Partie and would be responsible for:

Assisting and prepare meals for our residents/seniors, e.g., stocks, soups, salads, sauces, meats, starches, vegetables, proteins, and desserts.
Following prepared menus such as special diets and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
Adhere to and enforce all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and company policies and procedures.
Ensure all kitchen equipment and tools are being used safely and according to provided direction.
Ensure food is handled, stored, and cooked according to health and safety standards, Safe Food Handling and regulated temperature guidelines.
Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the company dress code and/or wearing the company uniform.
Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives.
Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR/QUALIFICATIONS

2 years of experience with volume food preparation
Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
Demonstrated time management skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor and attitude at all times
Ability to maintain patient and tactful composure in a fast-paced environment
NOTE: The successful candidate must have a clear Vulnerable Sector Check. Hourly rate will be as per The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 955.
